The state’s major programs serving the elderly are in the areas of
health care, housing, energy, nutrition, property taxes, transportation, and
cash assistance. We have included programs where (1) age is one criterion for
eligibility or (2) a large proportion of the clients are elderly. Some of these
programs are means tested. Several are funded, in part, with federal money.
